The EX-DG Of Imo State Broadcasting Corporation Who Murdered His Wife Has Been Caught

The Imo State Police Command has arrested 82-year-old Theophilus Okere, the EX-DG of Imo State Broadcasting Corporation for allegedly killing his wife, Beatrice Okere. The couple had been married for 50 years.
As earlier reported by World360i, the former DG stabbed his wife to death on Monday in Imerienwe community of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, fleeing after carrying out the act.
The spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the development.
Ikeokwu said preliminary investigations revealed that after killing his wife, the 82-year-old Theophilus Okere ran away until he was arrested by the officers of the command after a tip-off.
According to reports, Beatrice, in her seventies, was taken to an undisclosed hospital by indigenes of the community after the incident happened, but due to loss of so much blood, she died.
The Commissioner, Imo State Police Command, Isaac Akinmoyede, said the investigation is ongoing to ascertain if the man committed the heinous crime.
A source in Imerienwe told the News Agency of Nigeria that the 85-year-old former IBC boss had been suffering from dementia.
According to the source, Okere most times is not aware of his actions.
The sources, who pleaded not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the Okere family, disclosed that the family had been managing Okere’s dementia for some time.
The source said: “Okere has been down with dementia and the family has been managing the problem.
“Even today that he stabbed his wife to death, when he was asked why he did it, he responded that his wife was still sleeping.
“The other Sunday, Okere went to church and said that his car was missing when in fact the car was parked in his compound.”
